All Abaca mattresses are made with loving care in our farm based unit in West Wales.
We use only the finest organic materials to create each individually made mattress, bringing you unparalleled organic luxury. The range of mattresses comprises a 100% organic pocket sprung, a fully organic latex mattress, a luxury combination of both as well as a selection of organic cot and Moses basket mattresses. Each mattress is made with generous layers of organic Welsh wool which is naturally fire retardant, allowing it to pass the fire retardant test without the use of chemical fireproofing.

Our organic pocket sprung mattress (Snowdon) is made in a choice of two firmnesses which between them provide the perfect sleeping surface for the majority of people whether you are very light or very heavy. It combines layers of wool with different properties to make a wonderfully comfortable mattress and is encased in an organic cotton cover which is hand tufted. This Soil Association certified pocket sprung mattress is available in all standard sizes and can also be custom made to fit a non standard bed frame.

The Abaca latex mattress (Ramsey) is made using natural latex formed from the sap of the Hevea Brasiliensis tree. Two layers of organic wool are wrapped around a 15cm deep natural latex pad, then, as with all our mattresses, it is finished with an organic cotton cover and hand tufted. The latex is available in soft, medium or firm, and this metal free mattress can be made in different depths and in any size or length.

A combination of pocket springs and latex creates our most luxurious mattress (Chester). Based on a 1400 count pocket unit this mattress has lavish layers of wool, but for maximum comfort we add a 3cm deep pad of latex on each side. Each layer is carefully added by hand to ensure the evenness of the fillings and then wrapped in a single layer of needled wool which is hand stitched to keep the fillings firmly in place. A 100% organic cotton cover encases the mattress which is then hand tufted. This mattress can also be made as a ëno turní mattress, which is a good option if turning a heavy mattress is an issue. Available in all standards sizes and bespoke.

The Abaca 100% organic Moses basket mattress is a must for a new born baby and can be made to any size or shape. Made from layers of organic wool with an organic cotton cover, it ensures your baby is not exposed to any harsh chemicals. We also provide organic mattress protectors to fit. Our organic cot mattress is made from a resilient core of coconut fibre (coir) bonded with a small amount of natural latex. Layers of our heaviest wool are added on either side to build the cot to its finished depth, and then a wrap of wool is hand sewn around to hold everything in place. An organic cotton cover encases the mattress. A cot mattress can also be custom made to fit that much loved cot which has been carefully stored for years. An organic cotton cot mattress protector is available in standard or bespoke sizes.

The Gower mattress is ideal as your childís first proper mattress. It is made from a sturdy layer of horsehair bonded to an equal depth of natural latex. A wrap of organic wool is hand sewn around the pad, and the mattress is finished with an organic cotton cover which is hand tufted. Again, this mattress can be custom made to fit any size childís bed.

Abaca mattress pads add layers of natural organic materials to your existing mattress. Whether you want to bring a bit of organic luxury to your bedroom, or simply add layers to extend the life of an old mattress, an Abaca mattress pad will fit the bill.

The wool mattress pad is made from two layers of medium weight organic Welsh wool encased in an organic cotton cover. Each pad is finished by hand stitching the layers together. It can be made deeper by the addition of more layers of wool, and custom made to fit a non standard size bed.

Latex mattress pads are made using one or two layers of 3cm deep latex with a wraparound of organic wool which is hand stitched. The cover is made with 100% organic cotton and is hand tufted. These pads are either around 5cm deep (one layer of latex) or approximately 8cms deep (two layers of latex).

A well made hardwood bed will last a lifetime, and the Abaca hardwood range has a timeless simplicity. All constructed by craftsmen in our farm based unit in West Wales, they are hand made from sustainable wood. The beds are both stylish yet simple to assemble, and will complement any decor.

Wood is a natural material which needs to breathe to mellow and age gracefully. With this in mind, the Abaca hardwood bed range is not varnished or lacquered, but sealed with an entirely natural finish which allows the wood to mature and glow. A polish with a good wax every now and again will help this process.

Each style of bed is available in all standard sizes, but can also be made longer or shorter, wider or narrower, higher or lower. In other words, we can make you a bespoke bed which exactly fits the space you want to fill. The beds all come with a 10 year guarantee.
